SAM Magazine-Revelstoke, B.C., Jan. 17, 2007-Revelstoke Mountain Resort, located on Mt. MacKenzie and in the process of being developed by Canada's Simpson Property Group, will soon feature a C$22 million gondola and high speed quad chairlift built by Leitner Poma Canada Inc. The signature lifts are scheduled for summer 2007 installation, in time to open for the 2007-08 season.

The lifts will service more than 4,700 vertical feet initially, extending to 6,000 vertical feet in subsequent years, which will make Revelstoke Mountain Resort the undisputed king of vertical in North America.

The resort will develop the existing (and comparatively tiny) Mount MacKenzie ski area by extending lifts to the mountain's summit. Mount MacKenzie currently operates only a single lift that has been in operation since 1964. The potential is huge; the mountain summit receives an average of 40 feet of snow per year. At buildout, Mount MacKenzie could include 21 lifts and 115 ski and snowboard trails.

Simpson Property Group also plans to develop lodging and residential homesites, guest service facilities, an 18-hole golf course, and a multi-use trail system in conjunction with on-hill development. The Resort has also signed a purchase agreement contract with the Revelstoke-based helicopter skiing operation Selkirk Tangiers. That, in combination with the Resort's acquisition of CAT Powder Skiing, will make Revelstoke Mountain Resort a one-stop destination for helicopter, snowcat and lift-served skiers and riders from around the world. \
