SAM Magazine--Donnelly, Ida., March 25, 2004--Jim Spenst is joining Tamarack Resort as vice president of operations. Spenst is currently vice president of mountain operations for Copper Mountain Resort, and will remain in that position through the current season.

At Tamarack, Spenst will oversee lift operations, the Alpine and Nordic trail systems, golf course and waterfront park on Lake Cascade, as well as hospitality services and property management.

Spenst has spent his entire 30-year ski industry career at Copper, where he began as a liftie in 1973. For the past six years, he has supervised all mountain operations, golf, risk management and development permitting activities. He has been involved in the local community, too, as a member of the Frisco Town Council, as well as mayor from 1988 to 1992. He has also served on the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board.

Tamarack also promoted Amy Reino to vice president of marketing. Reino had previously served as director of business development.

In the summer of 2004, Tamarack plans to install five ski lifts, build approximately 60 estate homes, cottages and chalets, complete the Robert Trent Jones II signature 18-hole golf course, and develop the seven-structure Pioneer Village, which will support all of the alpine skiing activities in the winter of 2004-2005. The 2,800-vertical-foot ski resort is expected to open in December 2004. \
