SAM Magazine-Teton Village, Wyo., Sept. 20, 2007-A Swiss crew from Doppelmayr CTEC is in the final stages of dismantling the old Jackson Hole Ski Resort tram. Crews will demolish the lower terminal of the old tram in October, and work on the new terminals will continue through the winter. The project also involves removing the tram's cable and two cars, which date from 1966.

The new tram will have a capacity of 600 per hour, double the old lift. The new cabins-which will also be painted Jackson's iconic red, and were designed by the Swiss firm CWA Construction-have a capacity of 100. At $30 million, the project is, according to Doppelmayr, it largest project in terms of revenue in North America.

Doppelmayr CTEC is currently building the lift's new towers in Switzerland, and will ship them via 50 containers to the U.S. The towers are expected to arrive in March.
