SAM Magazine - Lake Louise, Alberta, November 17, 2006 - Lake Louise has gotten the go-ahead to host the first men's World Cup Downhill race of the season. The event is scheduled for November 25 and 26. The resort recently passed a hill inspection by the FIS and met the conditions to host the DH.

Given the speeds at which World Cup DH racers reach, snow conditions and hill preparation are key in hosting a successful event. Lake Louise currently has a 31-inch base at the mountain top, and man-made snow will be essential in the course preparation to meet remaining FIS concerns. In addition to the 40 paid staffers that Lake Louise employs in the race department, 300 unpaid volunteers have been recruited to assist with hosting the event. \
