Push to The Latest: No
SAM Magazine-Stowe, Vt., Apr. 16, 2007-With the high-elevation resorts of the Rocky Mountains shuttering winter operations for the season, it seems almost counterintuitive that Eastern resorts are extending their seasons. But plentiful snowfall and continued cold weather have sparked a slew of extended-season announcements, with Stowe being the latest resort to jump on the "ski it while we got it" bandwagon.

And the mountain certainly has it, having received an impressive 25 feet of snow since mid-January, including about six feet in April alone. The bounty has the resort shooting for an Apr. 29 closing.

So far Stowe's decision looks like a good one. The resort is reporting 12-20 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, up to 48 inches in the past week, and a current base of 96 inches at the top of Mount Mansfield.
