SAM Magazine-Revelstoke, B.C., Apr. 4, 2007-Real Estate is hot at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and the boom seems to be just starting. The mountain, based outside of the logging and mining town of Revelstoke, will feature North America's longest vertical drop, over 6,000 feet, upon completion. In addition to the skiing, the resort will have a comprehensive base village featuring a variety of real estate offerings.

And these offerings are hot. The first offering, Nelsen Lodge, sold out in three hours, prompting developers to release a second building which was 80 percent sold on the day those properties became available. Total sales were over $60 million, with 56 percent of the purchases made by American buyers.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort developer Don Simpson, chairman of Simpson Property Group Canada, expected as much. "I've been skiing in this area for years and it really is truly incredible," he said. "Soon we will be able to offer ski-in, ski-out real estate at the base of North America's longest skiable vertical."

Nelsen Lodge, named in honor of famed Revelstoke ski jumping champion Nels Nelsen, is steps away from the anticipated Village Heli-Centre which will provide access to 500,000 acres of terrain accessed by Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing, also owned by the resort. The architecture and construction of Nelsen Lodge set it apart. "Most of the ski product out there is stick frame and straight lines," said Ross McCredie, president and CEO of Sotheby's International Realty Canada. "We describe Nelsen Lodge as 'concrete and curves.'"
