SAM Magazine-Revelstoke, B.C., Oct. 9, 2007-Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the massive development in British Columbia's interior, is expected to open on schedule by Dec. 22. Upon completion, the resort will boast the longest vertical in North America at a whopping 7,000 feet from top to bottom.

For the coming season, two major lifts will serve 4,700 vertical feet and 1,500 acres of terrain. Both are Leitner Poma products: a 7,900-foot-long eight-passenger gondola, and a 6,200-foot-long detachable quad. With a limited bed base and established competition for it from Revelstoke-based heli and snowcat operations, visitors to the resort will find mostly uncrowded slopes until the resort's accommodations come on line beginning in December 2008. Properties at the resort have been particularly hot, with the first condos selling out immediately and speculators driving up home prices in Revelstoke.
