SAM Magazine-Aspen, Colo., Mar. 20, 2008-Aspen Highlands, Colo., and Cranmore, N.H., have joined the ranks of areas that are extending their seasons. Highlands will run weekends through April 27, providing two "bonus weekends" of operation. Cranmore will operate through April 6, with tubing operations on weekends through April 27.

With over 120 inches on the ground in Highland Bowl and almost 100 inches at mid-mountain, Highlands will be open to the 12,382-foot summit of Highland Bowl. The Exhibition, Loge and Deep Temerity lifts will run daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. providing access to the entire mountain. The Merry-Go-Round restaurant will serve a limited lunch menu with barbecue, chips and beverages. There will be live music, events and special packages available; more details will be announced shortly.

Adult tickets will be $39 per day, youth and seniors will pay $35 and children's tickets will be $25. As always children six and under ski for free. As a show of support for resort employees across the country, employees from any other ski resort with a current season picture pass will pay just $12 for a lift ticket.

The closing weekend coincides with Frontier Airlines' inaugural flights into Aspen. Frontier's new Denver to Aspen service includes five flights daily, year round, beginning April 26.

Cranmore has received more than 135 inches of snow so far this winter, with more in the forecast. This enables the area to head for its latest closing date in more than 10 years. "We reviewed our snow reports for the last 10 years and cannot find a closing date later than April 1st, so this is truly a remarkable winter for us. We have been enjoying above average snow conditions and above average skier interest this March," said Cranmore GM Ben Wilcox. To celebrate its extended season, Cranmore will offer 2-for-1 midweek ski lift tickets March 31 - April 4. This means two people ages 19 and older can ski for only $24.50 each.

The tubing park will keep its regular hours of operation through Sunday, March 30. After that, the park will operate Saturdays and Sundays through April 27. \
