SAM Magazine - Glenwood Springs, Colo., September 22, 2008 - Garfield County officials will review a proposal to redevelop the base area of Sunlight Ski Area on Wednesday evening. The proposal, which includes updating the on-mountain facilities and construction of more than 800 residential units, has met opposition from nearby residents, who cited traffic concerns on the resort's access road, and from the staff of the Garfield County planning and building department, which has recommended that the county planning commission reject the plan due to the rural, undeveloped nature of the surrounding area. Sunlight managers have stated that they will address concerns surrounding development at the ski area, located approximately 10 miles from Glenwood Springs. Approval of the plan is essential for Sunlight to complete the sale of the area to Florida-based Exquisite Development. \
