SAM Magazine-Toronto, Ont., Sept. 1, 2009-Peter Cowley is the new general manager and executive vice president of Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, Ont. With more than 23 years experience with Intrawest, Cowley has worked in almost all areas of the hospitality industry.

Most recently, Cowley worked as a consultant for various resort and real estate developers planning all aspects of their operations. Prior to that, Cowley was vice president of development at Copper Mountain, Colo., where he managed the planned unit development and resort master plan as well as multiple high-end real estate projects. He also servied as Intrawest's VP of lodging product development. "We are excited to have him join our team, " said Gil Blutrich, president and CEO of Horseshoe owner Skyline Boutique Hotels & Resort.

"I am pleased and excited to join the Horseshoe Resort team," said Cowley. "Horseshoe Resort already offers world-class amenities and activities, and I am looking forward to further contributing to Horseshoe's success." Resort facilities currently include the ski area's eight lifts and 61 acress of trails, award-winning golf courses, a full service spa, 101-room hotel and three restaurants, and 35km of hiking and biking trails.
