SAM Magazine--October 8, 2009--Boreal's snowmaking efforts are about to pay off--the Tahoe resort will turn its first lift tomorrow, the earliest opening in the resort's history. Boreal will also be the first resort to open in California. A quad will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and lift tickets will sell for $15 for kids 12 and under and $30 for anyone 13 and older. The resort will offer one groomed trail and one terrain park with six to ten features. Boreal's early season operation is tentatively weekends only (Fri/Sat/Sun) until further notice.

Arapahoe Basin, Colo., is joining the early-season ranks by opening its doors Friday, October 9. This will also be the earliest opening for this resort in its history. One lift will open to the public at 9 a.m. and offer an intermediate trail and six terrain park features. While the resort congratulated Loveland for being the first, A-Basin promises to be back in the race next year for first to open.
