SAM Magazine-Chillan, Chile, Mar. 12, 2010-The Nevados de Chillan resort, and the hotel and conference center known as Termas de Chillan, experienced only minor damage from the earthquake, SAM has learned, and preparations for the upcoming season were not affected. The Chillan resort was the closest to the earthquake epicenter, about 110 miles, of the major Chilean resorts.

The resort's lifts and other infrastructure, managed by Nevados de Chillan, were not damaged by the quake, according to Alejandra Belart, international sales director for Termas de Chillan. The facilities managed by Termas de Chillan, including a five-star hotel, casino, and conference center, saw only a few broken windows and broken glasses in the restaurants. These facilities, she said, are all of recent construction and were designed to withstand the level of shaking that took place at the area.
