Last summer SAM Magazine kicked off a series of resort profiles featuring summer attractions across the country. These profiles were also covered in more depth in the pages of SAM. We continue our summer ops series here with a trip to Northstar-at-Tahoe in California. SAM's assistant editor, Liz Eren, strapped on the head cam to test out the area's downhill mountain bike park.

Northstar-at-Tahoe's Mountain Bike Park has grown into the largest bike park in Northern California. It offers riders more than 100 miles of trails and 1,600 vertical feet of lift-accessed mountain biking. Trails range from the signature LiveWire trail, a fully irrigated 1.8 mile black-diamond track, to the family-friendly, blue-square Easy Rider and the new 2six jump park designed by Northstar team rider Cam Zink. Downhill, freeride and children's bikes can be rented along with full-face helmets and body protection. Ticket prices are $42 for adults and $27 for children. Season passes are available at $279 for adults and $139 for children.

New this year, Northstar's Bike Academy offers private lessons, camps and clinics for all ability levels starting at age 9. Lessons range from $15 to $39 for adults and children. The Bike Park operates from July 2 through September 6, seven days a week. For more information, visit Northstar's Mountain Bike webpage.

The next stop for the SAM CAM summer series will be Amesbury Sports Park in Amesbury, Mass., where we will check out the park's summer tubing and Orb. To see all of the SAM CAM videos, visit SAM's Youtube channel.
