SAM Magazine--October 1, 2010--It's the season for hiring, promoting and moving, so we have compiled the latest resort personnel changes...and will continue to do so throughout the year. Congratulations to everyone below on their new positions!

Mt. Rose, Nev., hired sales and marketing director Sean Bakos. Bakos hails from Vermont and spent the last eight years as the marketing and sales manager at Jay Peak, Vt., and was the national sales manager for Heavenly Ski Resort, Calif., before that.

At Mammoth Mountain, Calif., Josh Chauvet was appointed action sports brand manager. Chauvet returns to Mammoth after an eight-year departure and will oversee Mammoth's terrain parks, action sports events and targeted marketing programs.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Calif., hired Michael Dalzell as director of sales and marketing. Dalzell has spent the last 15 years in the industry in senior sales and marketing positions.

Grand Targhee, Wyo., announced several changes to its managing team. First up, resort owner Geordie Gillett will assume the role of president. Second, Karen Cameron will serve as interim GM. Cameron has been with the resort for four years as the director of risk management and human resources. Third, Pete Kelly will assume the role of interim director of mountain operations. Kelly joined Grand Targhee in 2009 as the facilities manager. Fourth, Jim Costello joins the area as director of sales and marketing. Costello headed west from Sunday River where he was VP of brand management. Last, but not least, Joe Calder has been selected as the new ski patrol director. Calder has been with the resort since 1992.

Mt. Bachelor, Ore., is pleased to announce the hiring of Andy Goggins to fill the role of director of marketing and communications. Goggins comes to the resort with 10 years experience piloting resort marketing, promotions and events departments at Moonlight Basin, Mont., Heavenly Mountain Resort and Alpine Meadows Resort, Calif.

Alyeska Resort, Alaska, promoted Tysen Gregersen to director of facilities and grounds. Tysen has been with the resort since 2002 and has over 15 years of construction experience.

Mountain Creek, N.J., promoted Joe Hession from director of mountain operations to VP/GM. Hession started at the resort at age 14 and has worked in almost every department at the resort, from rental technician to rental manager, F&B manager to lodging director, to his new role.

At Arapahoe Basin, Colo.,several staff changes took place. Roxanne Hoover was named HR manager after roles at Keystone in lift and mountain operations. Patrick O'Sullivan was named to the newly-created position of risk manager. O'Sullivan has 25 years of industry experience at The Basin, Keystone and Mt. Hotham, Australia. Finally, Tony Cammarata is the new ski patrol director. Cammarata has spent the last 13 years at Arapahoe Basin, the last five as assistant ski patrol director.

At Vail Resorts, Colo., Alex Iskenderian has been promoted to COO and senior VP for Vail Resorts Development Company, a subsidiary of Vail Resorts.

At Squaw Valley, Calif., JP Martin was named the new terrain park manager. Martin has 19 years of experience in the industry, including Whistler, Mt. Hood, Jackson Hole and, most recently, Sugar Bowl resort.

Stowe Mountain Lodge and Destinations Hotels & Resort announced that Richard McLennan is the new managing director of Stowe Mountain Lodge, Vt. McLennan is a 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry and will oversee the new resort, which is only two years old.

Okemo Mountain, Vt., announced that Mariel Meringolo has been hired to fill the interim head of school position at Okemo Mountain School. Meringolo has been with the school since 2004.

At Vail Resorts, Colo., Bobby Murphy was named director of the Vail Snowsports School. Murphy has 20 years of industry experience and was a two-term member of the PSIA National Alpine Team.

At Sun Valley, Ida., Ivana Radlova was hired as director of the Sun Valley Nordic and Snowshoe Center. Radlova has 32 years of cross-country experience, most recently as executive director of the Rocky Mountain Nordic Ski Education Foundation.

The Las Veags Ski & Snowboard Resort, Nev., announced the promotion of Kevin Stickelman to president and GM of the resort. Stickelman has 15 years of snowsports experience, the majority of which was at Mt. Bachelor and Park City.
