SAM Magazine-Hancock, Mass., Dec. 31, 2010-In what could be a harbinger of holiday visits nationwide, Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort set a single-day skier visit record on Dec. 30, topping the previous record by 15 percent. A 20-inch snowfall just prior to Christmas has brought out the crowds.

With 7,874 total visits, Jiminy set records for both day and night visits, topping the previous marks set on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. Another key measure of volume: for Dec. 27-30, Jiminy's SnowSports School taught 2,242 lessons.

"We are thrilled with way the week has gone. All the fresh snow to start out the week set up great skiing and riding for our guests, and people have certainly come out to take advantage of it," said resort president and CEO Brian Fairbank.
