SAM Magazine-Ellicottville, N.Y., Jan. 12, 2011-Holiday Valley plans to build an Adventure Park, including an aerial ropes course and a mountain coaster, for the coming summer. The Aerial Park will open in June and the mountain coaster a bit later.

Outdoor Ventures Group of Southport, Conn., will design and build the Aerial Park. Its platforms and "bridges" will criss-cross a four-acre section of the forest adjacent to the Tannenbaum slope. Routes will include a variety of difficulty levels, with ziplines on some courses. To promote the Park to winter guests, samples of the park's platforms and bridges have been installed from the ceilings of Holiday Valley's base lodges. The park will be open spring through fall.

Wiegand Sports is working on the design and construction of the mountain coaster. Holiday Valley plans to begin construction in April. The ride will operate year-round.

More elements will be added to the park in the future, said resort president Dennis Eshbaugh.
