SAM Magazine-Grand Junction, Colo., June 1, 2011-Western Colorado's Powderhorn Ski Resort will be offered for sale at auction on Aug. 4. The resort, which consists of 44 trails and four lifts on 1,600 acres, is located on the Grand Mesas outside of Grand Junction.

The sale is being conducted by J.P. King, a brokerage that specializes in high value properties and developments. There will be no reserves or minimums for the auction, and the highest bidder will own the resort and associated real estate upon completion of the auction.

The ski area is for sale due to the retirement of owner Steve Bailey, who acts as CEO and president of the resort. "We're excited for what the future of Powderhorn can be, and we know the potential that it has, so we're working with the leader in high-end real estate auctions to ensure a quick and positive experience for us and for the future owner," said Bailey. "On behalf of the current ownership and staff, we are looking forward to the transition for this gem of western Colorado."

More information on the auction can be found at the J.P. King website, jpking.com.
