SAM Magazine-Oconomowoc, Wisc., Sept. 30, 2011-Highlands of Olympia ski and snowboard area will open for the 2011-2012 season with new management: Casey Bingham and Brent Milkey. The two plan to make improvements to the terrain park, focus on beginner lessons, and offer some of the best rates and prices in the area.

"We are very anxious to make Highlands of Olympia a desired location for ski and snowboard enthusiasts in the area," said Bingham. "We want to provide a fun and family-friendly area that gives people an opportunity to get out on the slopes frequently, without having to travel a long distance for a great terrain park or a day of family fun."

Bingham and Milkey attended Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Mich., and completed the school's Ski Area Management program. They have worked at resorts in the Midwest, Colorado and Montana, gaining experience in all areas of outdoor operations and management of ski areas.

Highlands of Olympia is serviced by two double chairlifts and one rope tow and has snowmaking on 100 percent of its terrain. The tentative opening date is set for Nov. 25.

Season passes are $199, and $599 for a family of four.
