The terrain includes approximately 140 hike-to acres. Breckenridge typically sees about 1.6 million visits. The comfortable carrying capacity for the 2,358-acre resort was about 14,900 skiers and riders before the expansion. Breck exceeded that level about 40 days a season. With the expansion, capacity will exceed 16,000.

The Record of Decision is now open to administrative appeals for the next 45 days, after which the Forest Service will resolve any issues within 30 to 60 days. However, it's likely the expansion won't become reality until either the 2013-14 or 2014-15 season.
