SAM Magazine—Aspen, Colo., September 24, 2013—Summer gave way to snow on the first few days of fall across parts of the West. From Colorado to California and Oregon, resorts reported the first significant snow of the season. It was significant enough at Silverton, Colo., where two to three feet of snow fell, that a few patrollers rode the lift and claimed first tracks for the 2013-14 season.

In the Colorado Rockies, several resorts reported several inches of snow: Aspen/Snowmass, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Breckenridge among them.
