Nov. 4, 2014 – Today Aspen Skiing Company announced an internal reorganization that is says is aimed at enhancing the guest experience through improved operational efficiencies, developing a more collaborative environment among employees, and allowing the company to keep up with the pace of the changing business environment.

The announcement comes just a few weeks before the scheduled Nov. 27 openings of Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are set to open Dec. 13.

Nov. 4, 2014 – Today Aspen Skiing Company announced an internal reorganization that is says is aimed at enhancing the guest experience through improved operational efficiencies, developing a more collaborative environment among employees, and allowing the company to keep up with the pace of the changing business environment.

The announcement comes just a few weeks before the scheduled Nov. 27 openings of Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are set to open Dec. 13.

“While we are coming off of a fantastic year, the pace of change in our industry is accelerating quickly and we need to ensure our organization is built to adapt quickly to new technology, increased competition, and shifting customer and employee expectations,” said Mike Kaplan, president and CEO.

Under the new structure, David Perry assumes the role of COO with oversight of the ski and snowboard schools, on-mountain F&B, and retail outlets. This is in addition to his existing areas of responsibility that include mountain operations, sales, marketing and events, and summer business.

Meanwhile Matt Jones, CFO, is now also the acting CIO with oversight of the resort's IT management, development, and strategic planning. He also now oversees ticketing and guest services.

John Lilley has been named to the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will also report to Jones. Jim Laing takes on the role of Chief Human Resources Officer.

In addition, Don Schuster's role as VP Hospitality is expanding to include hospitality operations along with development and project management. He will oversee the Limelight Hotel, The Little Nell and the Residences at Little Nell.

Finally, Rana Dershowitz, was hired as chief legal counsel to oversee all company legal services and activities.
