His Skytrac partners, David Metivier, Alan Hepner, and Carl Skylling, have presented the following open letter to the industry:

SAM Magazine—Aug. 26, 2015—Jan Leonard, a principal in Skytrac lifts and former president of Doppelmayr, died this morning.

His Skytrac partners, David Metivier, Alan Hepner, and Carl Skylling, have presented the following open letter to the industry:

To all our friends, industry patrons and trade partners,

It is with great sadness that we write this letter concerning the passing of our beloved Mentor and Business Partner Jan Leonard. Jan Leonard, who is survived by his loving wife Kay Leonard and their children, are all experiencing a great loss alongside all of us at Skytrac with the sudden passing of such a loved and respected man.

Jan was never a man who would burden others with his personal matters. Most would not be aware that Jan had a heart valve replaced 20 years ago, which lasted 10 years longer than expected. Jan recently underwent surgery to replace this valve, and after returning home yesterday passed suddenly this morning.

Jan's immense contributions and passion for the Ski Industry will assuredly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with Jan. Such a presence and leadership will never be succeeded.

Once Jan's family has had time to determine what services may be forthcoming, we will follow their wishes and make this information available.
