SAM Magazine—Burnsville. Minn., Oct. 16, 2015—Buck Hill Ski Area, founded in 1954 by Chuck and Nancy Stone, has been purchased by current general manager Don McClure, along with partners David Solner and his wife Corrine.

McClure has been involved with Buck Hill for more than 40 years. David Solner has spent the past 23 years as a leader at the design firm Cuningham Group Architecture, Inc. His career involved building entertainment facilities around the world, including the master plan for the 2018 Winter Olympic Village in South Korea.

The new team plans to turn Buck Hill into a year-round entertainment facility, complete with a world-class sport training facility. And that's fitting; the resort is well known for producing Olympic champions such as Lindsey Vonn.

In a statement the Stone family said, “We were never looking for a buyer, but when we saw an opportunity to carry on our legacy and enhance it with David's vision and Don's experience, we decided it was time. It is important for us that Buck Hill grows into the future, and we believe the new team has the knowledge and wherewithal to do so. We feel so fortunate to find such a buyer, and we encourage our guests to stop in and meet the new owners. Buck Hill has given us 60-plus wonderful years, and for that we are so grateful.”
