chris fradoSAM Magazine—Winchester, N.H., March 1, 2016—After 30 years as executive director of the Cross Country Ski Areas Association (CCSAA), Chris Frado is retiring, effective Oct. 7, 2016. She will be succeeded by current SnowSports Industries America (SIA) nordic director Reese Brown, who is also an elected representative to the CCSAA board of directors.

"I couldn't be happier to have Reese as my successor,” said Frado. “It's been great having him on the CCSAA Board. His energy is wonderful, his connections far-reaching, and his personality is so well suited to membership services. CCSAA will be in good hands with Reese!"

Under Frado's leadership, CCSAA membership has grown tremendously and today represents 248 member businesses in the cross country ski industry (170 Nordic centers, 34 vendors, and 31 retailers and organizations). She also shepherded the organization through various milestones, which include IRS recognition as a tax-exempt entity, developing standards for ski conditions reporting, and negotiating a liability insurance plan for XC ski areas.
