SAM Magazine—Harbor Springs, Mich., Dec. 12, 2016—The Main Lodge hotel at Boyne Highlands Resort, Mich., experienced a significant structure fire that began early Sunday boyne highlands fire after esizeboyne highlands fire esizemorning, leaving 11 people with reportedly non-life threatening injuries, and one in critical condition. There were approximately 113 registered guests occupying 64 rooms Saturday night.

"Our primary concern right now is for those impacted by the fire, and for their health and wellbeing," said Mike Chumbler, president and general manager of Boyne Highlands. "We're extremely grateful to the fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies who are managing the situation."

Officials estimate roughly 40 percent of the building was damaged by fire, and a bulk of the rest of the building was impacted by fire, smoke, and water. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Harbor Springs Fire Department and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The resort closed Sunday as a result of the blaze and remains closed today. No reopening date has been set.
