SAM Magazine—Franklin, Wis., July 19, 2017—Schmitz Brothers LLC, which operates Little Switzerland and Nordic Mountain ski areas in Wisconsin, has reached a therock esizepurchase agreement and long-term lease deal with ROC Ventures to take over ski hill operations of The Rock Snow Park in Franklin, Wisconsin.

ROC Ventures owner Michael Zimmerman said, “Rick, Mike, and Dave Schmitz have a proven track record and plan to open more terrain and expand the scope of our snow park offerings. After seeing them turn around Little Switzerland so dramatically, we knew we’d found the folks we wanted to work with.”

“The Snow Park has some excellent ski terrain, a great tubing park, and immense potential for school groups, freestyle terrain parks, racing, and beginner programs,” said Rick Schmitz, one of the owners of Schmitz Brothers. “There are many synergies with our two existing ski areas.”

The Rock will be added to the Little Switzerland season pass at no additional cost. For a small premium, passholders can add Nordic Mountain.

Schmitz Brothers plans to invest $500,000 in upgrades at The Rock this fall, including a new rope tow, snowmaking infrastructure improvements, expanding the learn-to program, and improving the beginner terrain.
