A slightly skeptical look at global warming
As the article points out there many factors that can cause global warming. Global warming did not start with the industrial revolution. It has gone on for centuries, long before carbon dioxide levels started increasing. One factor that was not mentioned in the article was the reflective nature of ice and snow and the heat absorption by ground and vegatation. As glaciers and ice covering land have melted over centuries more radiant energy is absorbed. This is one factor that should be considered in global warming. Another observation is that volcanic eruptions like Mount St. Helens spewed volumes of small particles into the atmosphere. The result was not an increase of earth's but a decrease. The pollution of the atmosphere reduces the energy from the sun more than it reduces the energy radiated from the earth. This is a key conclusion which has seemingly been ignored by everyone even though mother nature has provided the proof a number of times in recent history. Clouds seem to be the key player and logically reduce the energy from the sun more than they reduce the energy radiated from earth. We may be reaching a point with more water exposed to the air and that the corresponding increase in water vapor and therefore clouds will level out or start reducing the earth's temperature. Two facts to be considered:40% of the sea ice melted in 2007 and the earth's temperature in 2008 was the coldest since 2000. We should all remember that the earth goes through cycles and the occupants of the earth have very little or no effect on those cycles.
