SWING BIG

A new ride called Swing Big, a four-rider swing designed for year-round use, is available from Setpoint Engineering. A rapid-draw cable system lifts the four riders to a 70-degree horizontal angle and a height of 30 feet above the ground, then releases them for a free-swing experience. Swing Big incorporates a braking system to slow and stop the swing toward the end of the ride cycle and stabilizes the ride during the ride process. Swing Big is ASTM compliant. Amusement Resource Group’s Larry Hayes sold the ride to Cranmore Resort, which began operation on July 2, 2011. WWW.SETPOINTINC.COM

EASYSTORE

Introduced this past season in Europe and debuting this fall in the U.S., Wintersteiger’s EasyStore shop furniture proves that form and function can go hand in hand on the shop floor. Wintersteiger has combined ergonomic requirements with minimalist design into a contemporary package, while achieving a high level of flexibility in customization. The result is modular furniture that provides a user-friendly and attractive environment for your rental or retail shop. WWW.WINTERSTEIGER.COM

VERTEVO LANDING PAD

The VertEvo Landing Pad from BagJump was introduced this year at Windells Summer Camp at Timberline, Ore., and at Camp of Champions in Whistler, B.C. The Landing Pad is designed for halfpipe and vert-riding practice. It provides skiers and riders a soft landing on an angle, to get the most accurate feeling for a new trick. The VertEvo Landing Pad has proven to be a successful training implement for pros and intermediates alike. WWW.BAGJUMP.COM

SKI & SNOWBOARD SAUNA

Ski & Snowboard Sauna’s patented heating system uses gentle radiant heat to evenly and safely supersaturate ski/board bases with wax. Competitors and serious skiers and riders will appreciate the simplicity of a few Ski Sauna treatments per season versus the everyday process of hand ironing and scraping that used to be the norm. To use, hand iron an ample amount of the recommended wax onto the ski or snowboard and place in the Sauna for two to four hours. Check midway through the process and add extra wax if needed. SNOWFLEX SUPERTUBING

New for 2011, Briton Engineering Developements (UK) offers custom-designed tubing runs that use the Snowflex Surface system. Plastic lane dividers are filled with water and can be placed into different configurations to customize any number of tubing runs. Lanes can also be moved or removed to use the area as one large surface for other Snowflex activities. WWW.SNOWFLEX.COM

BIKE CARRIER

A completely redesigned bike carrier from DeasonBuilt is two-thirds the weight of the former design, making it only 85 to 95 pounds each, depending on the chairlift model and based on a 3-bike unit for a quad chair. Units lock into each other when stacked for winter storage or transport, allowing two people to stack carriers 10 to 12 high by hand. The carriers come galvanized for lifetime use and are available for most lifts, including high-speed detachables and fixed grips. Currently installed at Alyeska, Sun Valley and Stevens Pass. Acuity Brand Outdoor introduces new LED Luminars to enhance outdoor illumination and improve energy efficiency. The Hydrel M9800 Series offers the first modular 400-watt in-grade lights. Designed for flush mounting in soil or concrete, these multi-purpose units provide a new alternative to conventional lighting for architectural and landscape features. The 8100 and 8200 Series are compact, weather-protected lights designed for consistent styling; flexible mounting options allow for a wide range of installations. WWW.ACUITYBRANDS.COM

BIO JETDRIER

The Bio JetDrier is the hygienic, fast, environmentally-friendly way to dry hands in a washroom. Based upon a simple idea—using the heat from its own motor to create hot air—it dries hands in about seven seconds. Insert your hands into the drying slot and the three infrared sensors launch gentle, yet powerful, gusts of high-speed air that dry both sides of your hands. The air speed of the unit can be adjusted to suit its location. The system reduces energy use by up to 85% compared to conventional hand dryers—and represents a 98% savings over paper towels. TechnoAlpin introduces the new Easy-Lock system, a joint system made of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) used for air lines in a snowmaking system. Easy to install and durable, the Easy-Lock doesn’t corrode like steel pipe and has an operating pressure up to 350 psi. It requires no welding or expert skills to install. WWW.TECHNOALPIN.COM

WIRELESS WEATHER STATION

The new Ratnik Weather Station features advanced low-power technology that allows for lithium battery operation for up to one year—no power source is required. The system can be installed without communication cables or power sources, and field units can easily be moved and removed from the slopes during the summer. Up to 15 units can be placed at a single site and will have a 1- to 10-mile range depending on topography. Field sensors communicate to a central computer or a Ratnik Auttosno Hardware Based Data Collector. The Data Collector communicates with field units and will display real-time and historical temperature, relative humidity and calculated wet-bulb to any PC, without a need for any special software.
