SAM Magazine-North Woodstock, N.H., June 9, 2005-New Hampshire resorts posted 2,270,106 alpine skier and snowboarder visits during the 2004-05 season, the state's second-best winter on record, just short of the all-time record of 2,357,000 visits in 2000-01.

The season got off to a slow start with erratic weather in early December. But as the winter progressed so did the snowfall. A snowy and sunny March led to record-breaking numbers at many ski areas for the month.

The 2004-05 alpine skier and snowboarder total is almost 11 percent better than the previous season, which was the third best of the past decade. Many areas reported growing interest in children's programs and increased spending per skier.

Cross-country visits in the Granite State totaled 130,798, about even with the prior year. Snowtubing facilities, which are operated by 11 alpine and cross country areas, reported 115,712 visits, up 18 percent.
