SAM Magazine-Glenwood Springs, Colo., Oct. 13, 2005-Sunlight Mountain Resort, 10 miles southwest of Glenwood Springs, Colo., is for sale for $50 million, according to Richard Schafstall, president and CEO.

The sale includes the U.S. Forest Service permit for the 2,081 acres (including 67 trails and 470 acres of skiable terrain), four lifts, a base lodge, the Sunlight Ski School and Children's Center, a food and beverage operation, a snowmobile tour company, and rental-retail outlets onsite and in Glenwood Springs. The sale also includes 400 acres of Sunlight-owned developable land, which has the potential to support more than 700 residential units.

Sunlight, situated midway between and less than an hour from both Vail and Aspen, recorded more than 100,000 visits in its best-ever year. There are three airports within an hour's drive, and Glenwood Springs is home to several year-round attractions. The resort has advertising partnerships with the Hot Springs Pool and numerous hotels and lodges, and offers shuttle service for the short commute.
