SAM Magazine, Boulder, CO, November 20, 2006 - Eastern ski resorts are back on track as cold weather returned to the region over the weekend and resorts have resumed snowmaking operations. Numerous resorts delayed opening dates last week as warm weather stymied snowmaking and Mother Nature failed to cooperate. But with colder temperatures in store, the region looks set to see a slew of resort openings just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Skiers will also have plenty of options in the Midwest, with many of that region's resorts scheduled to start operations this week.

The openings will complement those in the west, where ski area operators have been taking advantage of plentiful snow to open on schedule and sometimes--as in the case of Aspen --earlier than planned.

If weather conditions remain cold, and resorts open as expected, by next week most major resorts in North America will be running their lifts and the ski season will be in full swing.
