In September 2018, Kryger and Murray were voted in to replace two vacancies left by retiring board members Andy Wirth of Squaw Alpine and Dave Riley of HoliMont Ski Area. Kryger and Murray were nominated for the positions by the NSAA chair-appointed Director’s Nominating Committee and voted in by existing board members. They will each serve the remainder of the vacated terms and then subsequently be eligible for election to their own three-year terms on the board.

The NSAA board of directors has 28 members representing eight regions. In a press release, NSAA president and CEO Kelly Pawlak expressed enthusiasm for the different points of view Kryger and Murray bring to the BOD. “We will look to [Kryger’s] viewpoint on running smaller, independently-owned ski areas and to [Murray’s] experience operating on public lands in the Southwest,” she said.

A New York native, Kryger began his career as a snowmaker at Greek Peak Mountain Resort and has served as the president of Greek Peak and Toggenburg Mountain since 2013. He is also on the boards of the Ski Areas of New York and the New York State Tramway Advisory Council and is a member of the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce.

Murray started as a lift operator at Loveland Ski Area, Colo., and has served the Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, Ariz., in various roles for 33 years. He has been GM of the Snowbowl for 28 years and is a founding member of the Flagstaff CEO leadership organization. Murray also servesas a member of theNSAA Public Lands Committee, the Northern Arizona Healthcare Foundation advisory committee, and Northern Arizona University Real Estate Holdings, LLC.
