SAM Magazine—Boyne Falls, Mich., March 14, 2020—Windham Mountain, N.Y., Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain all plan to close for the season after close of business on Sunday, March 15.coronavirus email

The two Boyne areas plan to temporarily cease regular operations at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Hotel guests will depart the property by checkout at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16. The resorts plan to reopen this spring, but an official date is not yet available. For Boyne Highlands Resort, the closure comes two weeks ahead of its annual spring shutdown. For Boyne Mountain Resort, this is the first closure for the property since the mid-90s. Both resorts are offering guests full refunds or the ability to move their reservation and rebook. Earlier today, Windham Mountain, N.Y., also decided to close for the season.

Excerpts from the resort's statement:

Windham Mountain will close for the winter season at the end of the day on Sunday, March 15, 2020. After much deliberation and consultation with industry and community partners regarding the Covid-19 global pandemic, we feel that this is the right thing to do.

For our final day of operation on Sunday, March 15, 2020, we will offer limited services. Seasons restaurant will not operate, the menu in Mountain Express will be limited, and no lessons, rentals, or demos will be available.

We are honoring any requests to cancel ski school/lesson/rental reservations and we are offering a credit to anyone who has booked lodging with us and has decided to change their plans.

We intend to have staff available and responsive to email and phone communications in the coming days while also keeping community safety at the top of our mind. We also intend to begin offering 2020/21 winter season passes, programs and add-ons on March 21st via windhammountain.com .
