SAM Magazine--Lakewood, Colo., Aug. 19, 2004--Several resorts are implementing the WinterKids' National Outdoor Learning Curriculum in in their local communities this season. The resorts include Crystal Mountain, Mich., Thunder Ridge Ski Area, N.Y., Cataloochee Ski Area, N.C., and Ski Areas of New York (SANY). In addition SkiTops, a Colorado-based ski tour operator, has signed on to help resorts implement the curriculum.

The Curriculum encourages winter recreation among children. The program provides a detailed plan used by teachers in local schools to integrate skiing and winter activities with academics. The program includes a student handbook for students to test their knowledge and follow their progress in winter sports.

"WinterKids and NSAA's Model for Growth coincide," said Michael Berry, president of NSAA, which partnered with the non-profit WinterKids organization last year. "Teaching children the value of physical fitness will broaden their interests in winter activities." \
