STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (February 11, 2005) -- From February 2-3, 2005, Ski Area Management (SAM) and Pepsi hosted a small group of senior executives from established corporations in the travel, communication and winter sports industries to discuss the subject of multi-cultural diversity as it relates to winter resorts. Companies and organizations who attended the two-day diversity summit, which took place at Steamboat Springs winter resort, included American Express, Amtrak, CGPR Public relations, NSAA, SIA, Sprint and United Airlines, as well as representatives from resorts across the country. The day-long meeting was facilitated by New Haven Consulting from New Haven, Conn., specializing in diversity training and consulting.

"We are thrilled with the success of our Diversity Summit last week" says Associate Publisher, Olivia Rowan. "Our goal for this gathering was to explore some of the issues such as retaining, attracting and growing diverse markets. Over 70 percent of all youth under 18 are now multicultural and the workforce is more racially, ethnically and culturally mixed than ever before--diversifying our workforce and marketplace is critical to our future success as an industry. Companies that recognize new and different markets and customer needs will have a distinct competitive advantage. Pepsi and the co-sponsors have been great partners at every level and we look forward to working with them as we roll up our sleeves to tackle this very important subject. "

"PepsiCo is proud to be a major sponsor of this important effort to bring diversity to the forefront of the mountain resort industry" says Frank Tansey of PepsiCo. "We are proud to have co-sponsors that represent the leading edge in diversity in established corporations. Pepsi is very pleased to team up with SAM on the Diversity Summit at Steamboat and it's our mission to help lay the foundation for ways we can increase multi-cultural programs and best-practices for the mountain resort industry"
