SAM Magazine—Riviera Maya, Mexico, Jan. 5, 2017—Powdr plans to open its newest Woodward center in October 2017 at a location nowhere near the snowy slopes—Riviera Maya, Mexico. The new facility will operate as part of the Hard Rock Woodward mexico esizeHotel Riviera Maya.

Woodward Riviera Maya will offer the chance to snowboard and ski in Mexico. The 20,000-square-foot complex will be a “shrine to lifestyle sports,” the operators say, and will also feature a skate and BMX park, parkour, cheer and hip hop dance programs and amenities, trampoline, a digital media camp, and more.

Woodward was originally established in Pennsylvania in 1970 as an Outward Bound center, but then opened its first indoor freestyle snowsports facility at Copper Mountain, Colo., in 2008. Since then, two more facilities have opened, both in California.

Mexico actually has one long established artificial surface outdoor ski slope at Monterreal, which uses the Dendix surface.
