SAM Magazine—Salt Lake City, Utah, Oct. 22, 2026—Doppelmayr and partners inaugurated a new U.S. headquarters Monday in Salt Lake City, followed Wednesday by a new Canadian headquarters near Montreal. Each new building houses production, sales, engineering, service, installation and administrative functions for the respective countries. Both headquarters replace outdated buildings, with space for future growth.

Doppelmayr USA CEO Keith Johns, Chairman of the Board Michael Doppelmayr, Managing Director Gerhard Gassner, and Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Doppelmayr employees marking the official opening on the new US headquarters in Salt Lake City.

The 160,000-square-foot Salt Lake City plant will build fixed-grip terminals, control systems, operator houses, and cylindrical towers. Doppelmayr will also produce conical towers for D-Line detachables domestically for the first time. The 150,000-square-foot Quebec plant, located in the suburb of Saint-Jérôme, will produce UNI-G detachable equipment, bullwheels, drive platforms, and sheave assemblies.

“This inauguration represents much more than the opening of a new factory. It is an investment in our future and in the talent of our 150 employees,” said president and chief executive officer of Doppelmayr Canada Luc Guy. “This project will allow us to continue our growth, increase our production capacity, while providing our teams with a modern, safe and inspiring work environment.”

Designers of the new buildings sought to increase automation, reduce production time and ultimately serve North American customers better. Both factories include new equipment such as robotic welding machines and plasma cutters. Vertical lift modules (VLMs) allow staff to store tools and spare parts efficiently. Due to a drier climate, Salt Lake features more outdoor covered storage (68,000 square feet) while snowy Saint-Jérôme plans to store 80 percent of materials indoors. Both plants include modern amenities for employees such as bike storage, electric vehicle charging, and gyms.

Ribbon cutting at the new Doppelmayr facility in Canada, presided over by Chairman of the board Micheal Doppelmayr and Luc Guy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Doppelmayr Canada.

Board chairman Michael Doppelmayr spoke at both events, thanking employees and presenting traditional Austrian cow bells to Doppelmayr USA CEO Keith Johns and Doppelmayr Canada CEO Luc Guy. He also thanked contractors and elected officials for their efforts bringing each project to reality.
