SAM and STN Form Web Partnership

It's a fast-moving world out there on the Internet. It's not that you'll be run over if you slow down; worse, you become irrelevant. Visitors to your site have expectations that must be met, especially in something called "Breaking News."

That’s why we are delighted to announce what we feel is an important partnership between SAM and Times Mirror Magazines—or, more specifically, between us and STN Online.

We see it as scoring one for common sense—of an alliance for service to the ski industry we each serve. When you visit our Breaking News, you will henceforth be getting, not just the happenings in the ski area field, but also insights and news on the equipment, clothing and retail side of our industry. Likewise, we will be supplying ski/snowboard resort news to STN. It’s a partnership of strengths, in which the undisputed winner is you and the ski industry.

When a ski area today—or often, a whole group of them—builds a marketing strategy around the message “Come, learn to ski with us!” there is a built-in equipment component to it that must be taken seriously. This is part of the increasingly critical role ski areas are playing in the sales and distribution of ski product, whether in buying for their own retail operations or for their burgeoning rental and demo operations. Just as a ski, board or boot manufacturer must today understand the on-hill marketing strategies of the area operator, the operator must likewise become increasingly savvy about the equipment that is available and how it affects their promotions.

Our thanks to Andy Clurman, president of Times Mirror Magazines, who immediately liked the simple logic of the partnership and—rare these days—made it happen simply. “Given our mutual goals of extending our print brands to our respective audiences, a partnership seems natural,” said Andy.

In the business of sharing online content and resources, a salute also to STN Online editor, Brian Metzler who worked out the details with our own web director, Olivia Rowan.

So, come visit us at work. No, not in our dreary offices, but in the exciting environment of https://www.saminfo.com.
