SAM Magazine-Mammoth Mountain, Calif., April 24, 2009-Mammoth opened up sales of its Mammoth Value Passes (MVP) to the public on April 1, and all 38,000 sold out before the May 1 deadline.

"We saw incredible demand for this product this April," said Joani Lynch, director of communications for Mammoth. "This is a good indicator for Mammoth next season. It shows people are still committed to investing in their recreation time and plan to spend more of it here."

Mammoth began to limit the number of MVP passes sold in 2005. From then until this year, the pass has only been available to individuals who had purchased it the prior season. Due to the changing economy and attrition in the program over the years, Mammoth decided to open pass sales up to any purchaser for next season.

Mammoth froze the price of the MVP at $576 for adults; it includes unlimited skiing and riding at Mammoth and June Mountains as well as other benefits throughout the season including, but not limited to, discounts on lodging, private events featuring early lift access on select days, and the opportunity to buy discount lift tickets for friends.

New MVP passholders can also use the pass for the rest of Mammoth's current season; the area plans to stay open through Memorial Day, if not longer, conditions permitting. \
