SAM Magazine-Boulder, Colo., June 17, 2009-Several former members of Bonnier Publications' Mountain Sports Media have formed a new company, High Country Media, which will unveil a suite of print, digital, membership, and radio properties in September 2009. These include a relaunched Mountain Sports + Living magazine, a direct-to-consumer membership club, mtnaccess.com, and a partnership with SnoCountry.com to run that site's online operations.

"High Country Media was started on the belief that we could strip away overhead and offer the resort and industry high-end but affordable, targeted media products that speak to the type of quality consumers they want to reach," says High Country founder and president Jamie Pentz. "The goal is to appeal to the entire demographic spectrum of mountain enthusiasts, with a special focus on the ones who live in places like Atlanta, L.A., New York, or the Mountain West."

The redesigned and reborn Mountain Sports + Living will be printed quarterly with a circulation of 125,000. It will feature "beautiful photography and the best magazine journalism our talented cast of contributors can provide," said editorial director Marc Peruzzi. The partnership with snocountry.com will bring additional editorial content to skiers, riders, and mountain enthusiasts.

MtnAccess.com rounds out High Country Media's initial offerings. This membership program allows direct outreach to Mountain Sports + Living subscribers and club members, who will gain access to a wide variety of discounts and special offers.

High Country consists of Pentz, Peruzzi, Greg Finn, vice president; Rob Hudson, accounts manager; David Cox, creative director; and Doug Sabanosh, digital media director.
