SAM Magazine-Broomfield, Colo., Sept. 24, 2009-Lucy Kay is leaving her position as vice president and chief operating officer of Breckenridge Resort, effective Oct. 7, 2009, and will be replaced by Patricia Campbell, currently vice president and COO of sister resort Keystone. Vail Resorts will conduct an internal search for a successor to Campbell at Keystone.

Kay was appointed vice president and COO of Breckenridge in June 2007. Prior to that, she had served in various marketing leadership roles at both Breckenridge and Keystone over a 20-year stretch. "I want to thank Lucy for her many contributions to the success of both Breckenridge and Keystone over the past two decades, and in particular, to helping establish both resorts as two of the most popular in the U.S., driving both visitation and profitability," said Blaise Carrig, co-president of VR's mountain division.

Campbell, who will continue to report to Carrig, was appointed senior vice president and COO in October 2008. She had been COO of Keystone since November 2006. Among her other responsibilities over a 21-year career: from 1999 to 2006, Campbell was director of skier services for Breckenridge and oversaw the ski and ride school, ticket and product sales, and guest service, among others. She was director of the ski and snowboard school for Grand Targhee Ski Resort from 1995 to 1999, and served in various roles from ski school instructor to assistant ski school director for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort from 1985 to 1995.
