SAM Magazine—Park City, Utah, May 2, 2012—Now in its third year, SAM's Summer Ops Camp will head west to Canyons, Utah, from September 4 to 6. The Summer Ops Camp is a hands-on educational and networking event that gathers resort managers and operators from around North America to explore the exciting opportunities in four-season attractions.

In addition to a full schedule of on-hill workshops and classroom seminars, campers will explore the summer activities at Canyons, Park City Mountain Resort, and the Utah Olympic Park. These facilities showcase some of the best examples of mountain coasters and slides; features geared to young kids and the whole family experience; ziplines, canopy tours and challenge courses; mountain bike parks; and, new cutting edge adrenaline attractions. Summer ops experts and suppliers will be on hand to answer questions and showcase the latest activities and products.

“Canyons Resort is honored to serve as official Headquarters for SAM Magazine's Third Annual Summer Ops Camp,” said Jenna Prescott, VP Mountain Services, Canyons Resort. “We look forward to welcoming resort operators and suppliers to Canyons in September to share ideas, best practices and successes.”

Mountain biking will receive special attention at this year's Camp, with a half-day session hosted by Gravity Logic, the Canadian-based leader in bike park development. "Gravity Logic is excited to partner with Summer Ops Camp to offer an executive-based session that drills down to the numbers, and explores the risks and rewards of investing in a summer bike park," said Dave Kelly, one of the three principals of Gravity Logic. "Feedback from previous summer ops camps was clear: ‘We want more information to help us understand if the model is for us.' "

With the passage of the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, and the increasing importance of off-season revenue streams in the wake of this past season, the 2012 Camp promises to be energetic, educational, and well-attended.
