SAM Magazine--Tupper Lake, N.Y., Sept. 17, 2013--After not opening last season, the entity that runs the Big Tupper ski area, ARISE (Adirondack Residents Intent on Saving their Economy), has decided to open up the community area for the coming winter. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, the ski center will be completely volunteer-run this winter and lift tickets will cost $25.

According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, the ski center will be completely volunteer-run this winter and lift tickets will cost $25.

Big Tupper has 25 trails and has had some trouble covering those slopes with snow during the recent low snow years. In addition, a nearby development, the Adirondack Club, has been embroiled in a legal battle to develop a resort in the area. ARISE hopes that the battle will end early next year and the resort can be built, which will ensure a brighter future for the ski resort.
