SAM Magazine—Las Vegas, Nev., Nov. 4, 2015—After more than a decade of trying to rebrand itself as Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, the area is switching back to its original name, Lee Canyon, as of Nov. 9.

“Despite changing our name to Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort in 2003, locals and longtime guests still refer to us as Lee Canyon,” said Kevin Stickelman, president and general manager of the soon-to-be-called Lee Canyon. “After 40 years what 'Lee Canyon' stood for was a part of our DNA: an unpretentious year round family outdoor recreation area. And that's who we are today.” Starting next week, the new name and logo will be featured on signage, uniforms and marketing materials.

Inspiration for the Lee Canyon logo was derived from the vintage ski patches that skiers used to sew on their coats and bags. “This idea perfectly encapsulates Lee Canyon's rich history and bright future,” said Stickelman. “We wanted to create something filtered through a nostalgic lens, while staying modern and relevant.”

Established in 1963, Lee Canyon is one of eight resorts currently owned by Powdr Corp.
