Copper Plans Indoor Ski Training Facilities
SAM Magazine-Copper Mountain, Colo., Apr. 25, 2007-In an aggressive move to build upon its freeride programs, Copper plans to build an indoor training facility for athletes who are interested in improving their terrain park skills.
Current proposals include trampolines, bungee systems, synthetic snow ramps and foam crash pits. The resort will complement the facilities with a professional coaching staff. In addition to the indoor offerings, the center will be linked to an outdoor facility.
"If you have a kid who wants to learn to do a 360, you now have an opportunity to send him to a place that has the right level of professionalism and the proven ability of the brand behind it where they can go and learn in a more controlled environment," says Copper marketing director Ben Friedland. "We think this is going to be absolutely huge."
If the center proves to be a success, other Intrawest resorts may follow Copper's lead.
