SAM Magazine--Boulder, Colo., Feb. 16, 2005--Storm Mountain Publishing Company, parent of Freeskier Magazine, is launching a national ski title this fall aimed at the hard-core youth market, ages 12 to18. The new magazine complements Freeskier, which targets skiers ages 18-30 with more diverse editorial.
The as-yet-unnamed magazine will have a raw, edgy look and feel, according to Freeskier's Matt Harvey, who will serve as editor of the new magazine and website. Harvey founded the freeskiing website Newschoolers.com and re-launched Freeskier.com. "This magazine is going to be the most raw and uncut editorial ever produced for the newschool rider," he said. "Much of the edit will come directly from pros, amateurs and randoms alike. It will be unpolished--straight from the underground ski scene and into the hands of our readers." \

I wouldn't put it past Matt Harvey to churn out something very progressive. This certainly is as niche as they can go. Best of luck to Matt & Ryan at Freeskier.-ozskier

With the demise of Freeze, do you think the teen freeskier market is big enough to sustain another attempt at reaching them with their own magazine?
