SAM Magazine—Lac-Beauport, Quebec, May 7, 2024—The Beaulieu family has sold Le Relais ski area to four Quebec businessmen, including former Le Massif executive vice president and managing director Nicolas Racine and Henrick Simard, a ski coach and corporate attorney who reportedly led the acquisition, as well as Francis Moreau and Nicolas Boucher. logo skirelais dark2xThe transaction closed May 1 for an undisclosed amount.

The Beaulieu family has owned Le Relais since 1987 and have continuously invested in on-mountain infrastructure and technology during their ownership.

“We feel really privileged to be able to make this transaction with the Beaulieu family,” said Simard. “They are exceptional operators,” he added, noting the mountain’s equipment is state-of-the-art and “the maintenance is impeccable,” according to a report from Radio-Canada.

The group said it plans to retain general manager Mélanie Morneau to run the ski area.

“[The new owners] share our concern to deliver quality services in a [family-friendly] environment,” said Sophie Beaulieu. “After all these years, we have fulfilled the vision of our father and our vision. It was important for us to ensure a smooth and respectful transition while preserving the continuity of the deployment of our vision for Le Relais. Our family is convinced that Le Relais passes [to] good hands.”

Le Relais has 33 trails with more than 700 feet of vertical served by seven lifts, including a detachable six-pack and detachable quad. It is located about 10 minutes from Quebec City.
