SAM Magazine-Aspen, Colo., July 29, 2010-On the heels of an announcement by Colorado Ski Country USA saying the association would no longer be releasing skier visits for its member resorts, Aspen Skiing Co., went and released them anyway.

According to Aspen Daily News Online, Aspen tallied 1,338,210 at its four areas, which was 4.3 percent over the 2008-09 season.

Aspen Mountain hosted 294,439 visits last season, a 3.4 percent increase over the previous season. Snowmass recorded 725,709 visits in 2009-10, a 4.5-percent increase. Buttermilk saw the biggest jump, 19.2 percent, to 143,115 skier visits in 2009-10. Aspen Highlands dropped 4.8 percent from 2008-09 to 183,710.
