Welcome to the October edition of Snow People, our monthly roundup of happenings to prominent ski industry and supplier personnel.

Angel Fire Resort in northern New Mexico has expanded its management team.

Spencer Weimar has been named the resort's new director of marketing and promotions. With more than a decade of marketing and promotions experience, Weimar has held positions at Whitefish Mountain Resort, Mont., and most recently served as director of sales, marketing, and reservations at Mt. Bachelor, Ore.

“With Weimar's expansive marketing experience in the ski industry and impressive leadership abilities, we know he will offer tremendous value to the marketing team and will help us continue to create the best guest experience at Angel Fire Resort,” said Mike Hess, chief marketing officer at Angel Fire.

Brad Miracle has also joined the Angel Fire team to manage the new RV resort, which opened in 2015. Miracle has managed RV resorts in Colorado, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and, most recently, in the Napa Valley region of California. He will be responsible for the execution of strategic marketing and business development for the resort.

Christopher Duran is the new head chef for Legends Grill. Duran will be in charge of all menu planning, meal prep, and will oversee all Legend's kitchen staff. Prior to taking over the kitchen at Legends, Duran worked as a sous chef at Elements Restaurant at the Angel Fire Country Club.

Greg Sullivan, Vail Resorts

Vail Resorts has appointed Greg Sullivan as the new retail chief operating officer. Sullivan joins Vail Resorts after a nearly 20-year career with Walmart. Most recently Sullivan was an executive with Crocs, as its global transformation senior vice president.

“I am confident that Greg's extensive experience and expertise in retail and his leadership track record will help continue to re-imagine the future potential of Vail Resorts Retail and drive success for our retail group, including the integration of Whistler Blackcomb's retail operations, upon the closing of that acquisition,” stated Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Vail Resorts.

Greg Sweetser, Ski Maine

Greg Sweetser, executive director of the Ski Maine Association, will be inducted into the Maine Ski Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Oct. 29. Sweetser has nearly 40 years invested in the Maine ski industry, 20 of which have been spent leading the Ski Maine Association.

Sweetser and the other members of the Class of 2016 are being honored for their influence in shaping the sport of skiing in Maine. The Ski Museum of Maine is also honoring Nancy Fiddler, Ed Rogers, Orman “Sonny” Goodwin, Geoff Stump, Andy Shepard, Dan Warner, and Walt Shepard.

Walter Piekarz, Prinoth

Prinoth has hired Walter Piekarz as the new alpine snow grooming sales representative for the North East territory. Piekarz comes to Prinoth with vast experience in snow grooming operations, including more than 10 years' experience as a snow cat operator. Most recently he served as the grooming manager at Stratton Mountain, Vt.
