SAM Magazine—Denver, Aug. 27, 2018—The Ikon Pass has added Solitude Mountain Resort, following Alterra’s closing on this acquisition earlier this month, and added neighboring Brighton Resort as an Ikon partner. This brings Ikon’s five Utah connectionsHN brighton ikon—Solitide as a full unlimited access member, and Deer Valley, Alta/Snowbird and Brighton as limited-access partner areas, with five to seven days of access at each—to nearly 10,000 acres of terrain.

It also further solidifies Boyne Resorts as an Ikon partner: five Boyne areas—Big Sky, Loon, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and now Brighton—offer varying numbers of days to Ikon and Ikon Base passholders.

“The Ikon Pass is expanding, and with the addition of Solitude Mountain Resort and Brighton Resort, we are excited to offer unparalleled access to Utah, a state known around the world for its snow quality, variety of terrain, and accessibility,” said Erik Forsell, chief marketing officer of Alterra Mountain Company.

"Brighton Resort is excited to be included in the Ikon Pass and honored to be part of such a premier group of destinations," said Randy Doyle, Brighton president and GM.

UPDATE: The morning after this report was first published, Taos Ski Valley, N.M., was also added to the Ikon Pass as a partner resort. Ikon passholders get seven unrestricted days at Taos, Ikon Base passholders can visit five days with 10 blackouts.

David Norden, CEO of Taos Ski Valley, said, “Taos has long been recognized as one of the iconic mountains of North America, is undergoing a major revitalization, and is the world’s first certified ski resort B-Corporation. As such, our mountain culture and environmental ethos align perfectly with the Ikon Pass community. Taos is honored to have been selected as an Ikon Pass partner.”

The Ikon Pass launched in January 2018 and is a collaboration of Alterra, Aspen Skiing Company, Boyne Resorts, POWDR, SkiBig3 (Canada), and independents Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Alta Ski Area, Snowbird, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Sugarbush Resort, Taos Ski Valley, and Thredbo, Australia.
